FedEx St. Jude Classic Recap

Total Units: +16.16 units

Record: 22-13-5

Win Percentage 62.9%

Another very solid tournament in the books.  To be honest, wasn’t sure how this would turn out given the fact that a major was looming for some golfers and not for others.  But, it was a good tournament and DJ continues to be that dude. I really don’t think anyone is competing with him right now, A game to A game.  Let’s recap though…

Day 1 Thursday 6-3-1

The Losses: Grayson Murray had a rough day as the heavy favorite over Cody Gribble. Tony Finau got absolutely dusted by Phil. I went for a money play on Berger, the two time defending champ, against DJ as a big dog. He spent his only two rounds seeing every inch of the course.

Pushed Howell against Horschel. A little surprising given both of their games coming into it.

The Wins:  Started off with a CT Pan win over Scott Brown. Had a quality round and it was smooth sailing. Schwartzel won easily over over Chappell who collapsed both days. I went out on a limb with Koepka over Stenson. Stenson has been playing very well, but Koepka has been super under the radar in his recent string of top finishes at The Players and Ft. Worth. Wesley Bryan continues to gain traction in the betting world with a victory over Baddeley.  Ben An pulled through with poor odds. but the guy has been playing very well. Aphibarnrat and Harris English were back and forth all day trying to lose but fortunately, Aphibarnrat came out on top.

Day 2 Friday 7-2-1

The Losses: Berger got smoked. I expected a bounce back round at a good price but he turded the course. I bet HEAVY on Phil to beat Luke List. He inexplicably lost but this paragraph is short so I can’t complain.

I pushed with Aphibarnrat thanks to a nice charity choke on the last hole from English.

The Wins: Snedeker over Vaughn Taylor. This was one sided thanks to the round of the tournament from Sneds. Howell got back on track against Horschel. He won by one stroke but it was really not that close. Schwartzel took out a struggling Chappell. Murray topped Gribble. I took Koepka again over Stenson because the hand is too hot. Same with Wesley Bryan over Gomez. Then I took Shane Lowry over James Hahn because Hahn hasn’t done much of anything this year.

Day 3 Saturday 5-5

The Losses: I took Mitchell over McGirt. Interesting, going into 13 McGirt was up -4 to +1. By 17, they were tied but Mitchell proceeded to get eaten alive by bunkers and tripled 17. Shindler couldn’t get any closer than 2 to Uihlein. Peterson was up 1 going into 13 and went +4 over the next five holes. Tried riding Koepka again but Sticker lead the whole way. Bozzelli against Werenski was a quiet match. Difference was Werenski’s early eagle. Very tough day for all. Seems like everyone had a double on their card.

The Wins: Palmer over Harkins. Both went in the water on the final hole but Palmer lead coming into it. Gomez cruised after Schwartzel went +7 on the front 9. McCarthy was solid the whole day and Troy Merritt was struggling. Wesley Bryan at plus money had a quiet scorecard and Sneds came way back down to earth. Putnam played well Saturday to make the final group on Sunday. He beat CT Pan.

Day 4 Sunday 4-3-3

The Losses: McCarthy did not play well against Power. Wesley Bryan finally took an L from Chez Reavie. Tried cashing in on the odds with Putnam against DJ.

Pushed Howell against Stenson and Mullinax against Sneds for plus money. Also pushed Pan against the am Thornberry, which was very surprising.

The Wins: Baddeley took out Horschel at plus money. I have been fading Horschel in most cases because most of his clout with bettors comes from a victory this season… with a teammate. Blaum seemed to get it together Saturday so I played him at plus money against Lashley. Stricker was steady all tournament so I played him against a declining Koepka at a nice price. Werenski pulled it out against Cink.

That wrapped up the tournament. DJ slamming it home on 18 was a nice transition into a major week. Look for more to come this week. Will get a preview for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills out as soon as possible, as well as my Day 1 matchup picks.

Bankroll is on notice this week with a lot more matchups available. Looking forward to getting after it again #TeamGetUnits
