PGA Championship Second Round Matchups

Round one is in the books and Brooks Koepka looks every bit like the guy who has dominated golf the last 3 majors. Danny Lee had a surprising performance to stay on pace but I don’t foresee him keeping up. Regardless, we have more picks to make.

Strong start for us, going 6-3-5 for +275 return. Some of those ties went the wrong way at the end but that’s the name of the game.  Onto our Round 2 picks:

Sungjae Im -170 over Lucas Herbert

Xander Schauffele -116 over Hideki Matsuyama

Rickie Fowler -111 over Justin Rose

Adam Scott -121 over Sergio Garcia

Charley Hoffman +116 over Patrick Reed

Round 1 picks for the newly placed second major of the year, the PGA Championship. This major allows qualifying for PGA certified Professionals from around the country, possibly including the one from your local club. Just one of the cool things about this major.

Pretty safe to say this is the least prestigious of the four majors. The PGA Championship produces some of the least memorable major winners. Some names that have won since Tiger came onto the scene twenty years ago: Rich Beem, Shaun Micheel, Yang Yong-eun, Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, and Jimmy Walker.

A venue like Bethpage feels like it should produce a worthy champion, but time will tell.

Onto the important stuff: First Round Matchups. Providing a lot of picks to choose from this go around. Let’s get started.

Beau Hossler -107 over JJ Spaun

Jason Day +113 over Rory McIlroy

Jim Furyk -117 over Corey Conners

Matthew Fitzpatrick +105 over Rafa Cabrera Bello

Bronson Burgoon -132 over Brandon Stone

Xander Schauffele -108 over Hideki Matsuyama

Adam Scott -111 over Sergio Garcia

Brooks Koepka -144 over Francesco Molinari

Brooks Koepka -105 over Tiger Woods

Tony Finau -130 over Ian Poulter

Bubba Watson +125 over Justin Rose

Francesco Molinari +120 over Tiger Woods

Bio

The co-owner of Bad For The Books, Matt had an immediate interest in sports in his youth. He first started studying stats and players in the first grade, looking at sports almanacs and year recaps. Born and raised in Cincinnati, sports gambling has been around his whole life as his father taught him about the horse racing industry and what to look for in Daily Racing Forms.

Things haven’t changed but have progressed into the modern era of stats with advanced metrics.  Specializing in golf and college football, he takes his knowledge from years of playing and viewing and it turns into profitable picks.

His picks are currently being documented on Fans Unite under the name MattGozzer. Quickly ascended to Pro status on the site, which requires people to pay for his picks, as of 6/4/18 he is sitting 63-47 over the course of 3 full golf tournaments and the final two rounds of the Masters, as well as 4 playoff basketball and hockey picks. He is up 40 units in the span of a month’s worth of work. Stay tuned for the action.
